Sometimes we let our thoughts run so wild in the wrong direction that the feelings begin to arise out of us. When this happens, it’s important to be able to stop and recognize the thoughts that you are having. An excellent way to get out of those patterns is by learning how to stop, redirect, and re-initiate those thoughts.

1. When you first realize the negative thoughts running through your head, first stop, and ask yourself if what you are thinking is even true/real. You’ll be amazed to find that most of the time they aren’t. šŸ˜‚
2. Come up with true positive thoughts: You can replace the negative with the positive- if you so choose. It just a matter of asking yourself what you want more – a positive or negative life? …BUT not the point, the point is that if you can find a TRUE positive thought, then begin to add that over those negative thoughts and redirecting your focus on the positive.
3. positive storytelling: you can do this at any time in your life, day, whatever…and it can be as general or as specific as you wish. But this practice can be especially helpful when you’re stuck in negative thoughts for an annoyingly long time – and that’s positive storytelling. You can generally tell a positive story about what you’re currently (negatively) thinking about. For example, instead of being hard on yourself and beating yourself up for something that you won’t remember next year, why not replace it with, “I know that sometimes life throws me challenges but I know that I will come out of them the best version of myself.” or whatever else resonates with your soul. Tell that positive story and believe in that story, and then go from there. That way, you’re not only redirecting your thinking, but you’re also creating a positive outcome for yourself in life.
