Creating connection:

I don’t think there’s anything more powerful than sharing your stories and life experiences that have made you and shaped you into who you are today.

I don’t think there’s anything more beautiful than connection. And when you share your story, you’re doing more than connecting, you’re also impacting others. Of course, you may not notice it, but it’s always there- making its ripple effect.

You have this incredible story. And it MATTERS. It needs to be shared with the world, you’ve got to teach your ways to those who are looking for the answers that will resonate with them that they can successfully implement into their own lives.

Everyone has something to say, and we, as one, deserve to hear and learn from it. Because there’s nothing more powerful than connection; there’s nothing more powerful than spreading love, joy, and other emotions!

Here’s a few topics you can talk about in a blog post and share who you are with your audience:

What have you gone through that you can teach others?

How have your experiences shaped you?

Based on your struggles, what did you learn about them and yourself?

What changed for you and WHY?

There are so many things to share. And luckily, once you begin writing, more inspiration begins to show up. Your brain begins to reflect on how far you have come, and what you want to say to the world. You begin to inspire through your words by reliving your own story and this time around, letting that story empower you.

Luckily for those of us alive right now, we are living in SUPER exciting times.

We have technology – which is only going to increase over time. It’s an incredibly powerful and innovative tool- and it will only expand further into how we utilize it in our world.

But more of that in a minute…

…First:

My Blogging Story:

I actually started my blog back in 2015. And initially, I began writing everything in a journal at first. The things I wrote really helped soothe my soul, so I thought that maybe if it helps me, it can help others as well.

So I slowly began moving my writing online and created a space for my creativity and writing by getting my website. I only wrote for my blog when I felt inspired and driven, which wasn’t too much in the beginning since everything was mostly just written in my journal for myself.

That was four years ago. Since then I’ve become a much more frequent writer online and have even been asked to write on other websites and sometimes get paid for it.

I ended up loving blogging because I began enjoying expressing myself through writing. One of the best parts of having your own blog is the ability to be able to work on making it YOURS. You can decorate it how you want. You can write whenever you wish, and if you’re not inspired- come back when you are. That was one of the things that got me so into it; I wasn’t forced to write like I was when I was in school. I never was good at being told what to do.

If you’re not sure what to write about or what kind of website you want to have- fret not! It doesn’t have to be tedious. Luckily there are MANY amazing resources out there that help you figure out what to write about, how to start a blog, how to rank your website, etc.,

The list really does go on!

It takes time creating a blog, but that’s the same thing as CREATING your life! And the more consistency you put into working on it, the more rewards you will reap for yourself and others. There are such incredible benefits of writing and having a blog (including earning an income; which we will discuss further down below)!

Now for the EXCITING stuff!

THE STATS (and future of the internet):

Remember how I said technology will be increasing? Yeah- that includes the USE of humans using the internet too!

No matter how much my blog has evolved over the few short years, it’s nothing like the entire NICHE of blogging that has EVOLVED from 17 million websites in 2000 to 1.8 BILLION websites in 2018.

I’m terrible at math, so I let Google do this one: that’s NEARLY +10.5K% INCREASE in 18 years, which is still a +582% increase on average per year. But if you look at the graph below- observe how it’s JUMPING! (Now think future of technology.)

A solid graph from InternetStats:

According to a New York Times study, 94% of people who share blog content do it because they WANT to help others. UM AWW!

So whatever it is that you want to share, it will only contribute immensely to your own personal growth and positive life changes. It will INSPIRE others who are going through the same thing you have/are.

But back to the stats really fast:

According to, Softwarefindr.com, “The internet has around 3.58 billion users – half the Earth’s population.

UH…

…you know what that means right?! It means that every upcoming generation is going to take up more of the internet- AKA raising the earth’s internet population every. singe. year.

This means eventually, everyone will have access to the Internet and the ability to learn (and earn) from it!

So I’m not only encouraging you to blog to share your story with others. If you been contemplating this idea and want to earn an income, then the PRIME time to sign up is NOW!

If you’ve made it this far into the article…then YOU’RE HERE FOR A REASON. You know it, I know it, so here we go:

HOW TO START A BLOG (THE EASY WAY):

(make sure to make it to the end to learn how to EARN for it too, I got you boo!)

I’m going to make this super easy, but I am not an internet-expert on coding and such, so I chose the easy way in-which was:

STEP 1: YOUR DOMAIN & WEB HOST

I use BLUEHOST which I recommend to EVERYONE for its easiness and efficiency. I signed up for $3.95 back in 2015, and haven’t regretted a day since. This website makes it a DREAM for creating your first website.

Bluehost is a web hosting website, which is like buying LAND where your home is.

If you sign up with this link, you get this deal for a sweet $3.95 for 12 months, and if your soul decides that it LOVES blogging then it will be more than worth it!

I love Bluehost because it is a great foundation and is super easy to use with A LOT of resources that make it even easier than reading this long post!

Here are the quick steps: (If you want the in-depth steps, click here to read my article How to Start a Blog Easily)

  1. Go to www.bluehost.com, click on the green “GET STARTED” button.
  2. Select your plan: I would really recommend the choice plus because it gives you the domain privacy- which essentially means that your private information (your name, address, etc.,) will not be available to the public).
  3. Pick your domain name (name of your website): you can always come back to this step later if you’re not sure about the name just yet.
  4. Create your Bluehost account!
  5. Select your package information: I’d encourage you to buy as much as your money allows you for as many years as you can (Bluehost has up to 5 years)- remember this is the lowest price you’ll pay until it’s renewed at the regular price at that time. So I would take advantage as much as your wallet allows you too, plus it can save you from having to go through the renewal process sooner rather than later.
  6. Then select your package extras: I’d REALLY only recommend the domain privacy protection- which allows for your privacy and data to be protected. Please note: If you opted to select your domain name LATER you won’t have the option to pick up this “extra” later- so please ensure that it’s a part of your plan before you check out!
  7. Then you enter your payment information
  8. After completing the payment, you can now create your Bluehost account password. Keep in mind that this is NOT your website password (no biggy- more on that below)!

STEP TWO: INSTALL WORDPRESS

Step two is BUILDING your home on that land.

WordPress is luckily already set up on Bluehost which makes your job ONLY easier!

Here are the first few steps you should take:

  1. Once you open WordPress, you’ll have the option of choosing “business” or “personal.”
  2. Change default nickname and password: Anytime you post or leave a comment, ‘admin’ will come up as the default for your name. To change this, go to users > your profile and then type in how you want others to see your name.
  3. Privacy settings: By going to settings > privacy, select “Allow search engines to index this site” so your website can find found on google!
  4. Change your links to SEO friendly: Whenever you write a post, you want that title to appear in your link automatically. To do this go to settings > permalinks, then choose custom structure to /%postname%/
  5. Activate the Akismet plugin: this will help you reduce the SPAM comments. YES- even if you have a BRAND new website, SPAM will still try to be your friend and leave comments frequently.
  6. Get the Jetpack Plugin: I LOVE jetpack and have been using it since day one! Jetpack gives you site security, site stats, Akismet Anti-spam (as mentioned above), search engine optimization, and more! I highly recommend this WordPress tool! I’d recommend the premium package because they come with SEO tools and site monetization!
  7. Allow your website to be searched & indexed: You want your website not only found but indexed by other search engines as well! Make sure to have this ready by installing the google xml sitemaps plugin!

STEP 3: Install a theme and write your first post!

Let’s style up your site!

In your WordPress dashboard (which can be found on your website link with a ‘/wp-admin’ added at the end, example: www.positivitysparkles.com/wp-admin/ ) click on appearance on the left column > add new and find a theme that you love.

Personally, I use BLUCHIC because not only do I love their unique and elegant themes, but they are always on top of updating the themes (which most free ones do not do)!

They also offer so many amazing resources to help you set up your theme or other blogging tools. They are on the pricier side when purchasing a theme but to me, the one-time payment is completely worth it to have a beautiful and functioning theme at all times!

Click here to check out there awesome themes!

Whether you’ve installed your theme or not, you can WRITE YOUR FIRST POST!

This is where the fun really begins! To write a new post you want to go to posts > add new and begin writing!

If you’re not sure what to write about, I’d encourage you to visit Pinterest for an abundance of resources as well as any other resource!

If you’re a writer that’s extra good at making mistakes, I would encourage you to get Grammarly. You can add it as an extension to your browser and use it anywhere that you’re writing on the web. I legit can’t live with it and highly recommend it to anyone who writes anything online.

My tip would be to stay consistent, and the good news is is that according to google expert, for every 100’d post- you will triple your monthly viewers from 1,000 to 3,000 viewers. (More traffic = more passive income)!

Grammarly Writing Support
