What Kind of Emotional Regulation Actually Works for You? π¬
Emotional regulation isn't one technique β it's a channel, a specific pathway your particular nervous system uses to return to equilibrium.
This 12-question quiz doesn't ask how you feel. It reads what you actually do when things get hard, and maps the specific doors your nervous system uses to come back to itself: movement, breath, meaning-making, environment, connection, or creation.
Nobody taught us this. And it shows.
Questions people ask
What is emotional regulation?
It is your ability to come back to yourself after something knocks you off centre β not staying calm, but returning. Most people are never taught this directly, and then quietly assume everyone else got the lesson.
How long does this quiz take?
12 questions, about three minutes. Free β you give your email at the end so your Coordinates can reach you, and the result appears the moment you finish.
Why does it give me two results instead of one?
Because regulation is rarely a single method. This one lets you pick everything that is true, then returns a primary channel and a secondary β the door your system reaches for first, and the one it uses when the first is unavailable. A blend is the normal, useful answer.
What are the six regulation channels?
Movement, breath, meaning-making, environment, connection, and creation β the Mover, the Breather, the Narrator, the Spacer, the Connector, and the Creator. Each is a different route back to the same place.
Why hasn't meditation worked for me?
Possibly because breath is not your channel. Stillness is one route out of five others, and it is the one most widely prescribed β so a person whose system regulates through movement or connection concludes she is bad at calming down, when she has simply been handed someone else's door repeatedly.
